Keynote Address by Professor Thomas Campanella

Thomas Campanella, professor of city and regional planning at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, will offer the Global Suburbs keynote on Chinese urbanization.

Professor Campanella is the author of the forthcoming book The Concrete Dragon: China's Urban Revolution and What it Means for the World. His other books include Republic of Shade, Cities from the Sky, and The Resilient City,which he coedited with Lawrence Vale.

Campanella teaches courses on the history and theory of urban form, as well as international comparative urbanization. He has conducted research as a Fulbright fellow in Hong Kong, and has consulted on urban design projects throughout Southeast Asia. He will be a visiting professor at the Harvard Graduate School of Design in Winter 2008.
