NCCRIT Bike Race

North Campus Criterium Bike Race

Four different races on a 1.1 mile closed-circuit of the University of Michigan North Campus held on Sunday, Oct 4, 2015. It will take place from 11:00am to about 3:30 pm and is officially sponsored by the University.

 

Riders will complete laps of a course around the core of the North Campus, starting and ending on Bonisteel Boulevard, next to Lorch Column (in front of the Art & Architecture Building). From here riders will climb up Murfin Avenue, cut across Hayward to Beal, and descend back to Bonisteel. The route will be closed to all moving and parked cars, as well as buses, with 6 police posted at all the intersections. Parking will be provided in lot NC43 behind Art & Architecture Building, off of Fuller Rd.

Race Schedule and Categories

A. Juniors' Race - 11:30 AM 
Two brief, informal races on a short loop limited to Bonisteel Blvd. Ages 8-11 and 12-14 years old. No fee.

B. Citizen's Race/Open - 11:45 AM 
The race will consist of 6 laps or 35 minutes (whichever comes first) and is open to any individual 15 years of age and older (students, faculty, staff, alumni, community members, etc). A total of 24 medallions will be awarded - 1st place male and female by age group: 15-17, 18-19, 20-21, 22-23, 24-25, 26-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+. Entry fee of $10.  

C. Pro-Am (USAC Categories 1 thru 4) - 12:30 PM 
18 laps or 60 minutes, competitive race officially sanctioned by USA Cycling.  Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place male and female. Over $2000 cash equivalent in primes, awards, and door prizes.  Entry fee of $35.

D. Team Relay - 2:00 PM   
The race will consist of 12 laps or 60 minutes (whichever comes first). Teams of 2-4 riders, can be all male, all female, or mixed.  Must be a member of the University of Michigan community (students, faculty, staff) and show MCard at registration.  We will award medals for the top 3 teams in three categories: Open, All Female, All Faculty/Staff.  In addition to the medalions, the winner of each category shall have their team name listed on an official plaque to be hung on North Campus.  Team names are subject to approval.  Pits and exchanges shall take place along Bonisteel Blvd., each team must make a minimum of 4 exchanges. Starting position shall be determined by the order in which teams register so sign up early!  Limited to 50 teams.   Entry fee of $20 per team.
