Open Forum: President's Commission on Carbon Neutrality
The President's Commission on Carbon Neutrality has begun! The Commission needs your help determining what should the University of Michigan include in our Scope 3 Emissions. In lay language, Scope 1 includes the emissions from the direct energy we use on campus and campus vehicles. Scope 2 includes the emissions from the power that we purchase from other suppliers (DTE). Scope 3 can include everything else (what we purchase, commuting to campus, food, etc). The quality of the product we create will be significantly influenced by what Scope 3 emission we chose to include or exclude. Larissa Larsen, Associate Professor of Urban Planning will lead a session briefly explaining the Commission's task, present some examples of what other universities include as Scope 3 emissions, and collect your input.
