Alumni Career Chat: Adam Hollier MUP'09

Progress

Sen. Adam Hollier (MUP'09)  is currently a Michigan State Senator who was born and raised in the North End of Detroit. As the son of a former social worker and a former Detroit Fire Department captain, service to people and the community were ingrained from a young age. He served as a volunteer firefighter, enlisted in the U.S. Army (graduating with distinction from officer training, where he earned the commission of 2nd Lieutenant) and currently serves in the U.S. Army Reserves.

Previous roles include director of government affairs for the Michigan Fitness Foundation and staff positions in both the state legislature and with local officials in the city of Detroit, where his efforts were instrumental in developing policies that protected seniors and facilitated safer neighborhoods. He was named to Michigan Chronicle’s 40 under 40 in 2013 and Crain’s 20 in their 20’s in 2015.  Sen. Hollier is a proud graduate of Detroit Public Schools. He earned a Bachelor of Science in industrial and labor relations from Cornell University and a Master of Urban Planning from the University of Michigan.
