Taubman College faculty scheduled to speak at Sustainable Ann Arbor Forums

The City of Ann Arbor, in collaboration with the Ann Arbor District Library, begins its “Sustainable Ann Arbor” discussion series, this Thursday, January 12, 2012. Urban and Regional Planning Chair, Dick Norton, is scheduled to speak on the first of four theme areas: resource management. This first discussion will include dialogue about natural areas, waste reduction, recycling, compost, local food systems, and water and air quality. Additionally, Taubman College Associate Professor Joe Grengs will speak on February 9, 2012, about land use and access, and Associate Professor Larissa Larsen will speak at the climate and energy event on March 8, 2012.

It is the goal of these forums to bring together University of Michigan faculty, representatives from community organizations, and city commissioners to discuss local sustainability concepts and efforts. Each program includes a short presentation followed by a question and answer session. The resulting discussions will serve as a guide for the city’s continued sustainability planning efforts.

This series will be held at 7 p.m. in the Ann Arbor District Main Library at 343 South Fifth Ave., on the second Thursday of each month, January through April. For more information on the sustainability framework and the Sustainable Ann Arbor Forums, please visit a2gov.org/sustainability.
