Ahlquist Exhibits “Sensory Playscapes” at the Detroit Design Festival

Assistant Professor of Architecture Sean Ahlquist presented Sensory Playscapes at the Detroit Design Festival on September 23, 2016. The multi-sensory installation is part of an ongoing research project that uses design and technology to address the challenges of children with autism. Ahlquist has been working in collaboration with Costanza Colombi in the Department of Psychiatry and Leah Ketcheson from the School Kinesiology to create more engaging skill-building technologies. The architecture acts as a communication device, documenting the interactions of and responding to the children that engage with it.
