Sirota Invited To Speak About Design-Led Responses In Mexico City Following The Recent Earthquake
In the wake of the recent earthquake in Mexico City, assistant professor Anya Sirota was invited to lecture on contemporary design-led responses to natural and man made catastrophes. She will speak on October 13, 2017 at Design Week Mexico and present her lecture, In Praise of Pomp. The presentation will assemble recent work by her design practice Akoaki in Detroit and speculate on ways that architecture and design can respond to deeply challenging urban scenarios without relinquishing concern for aesthetics, pageantry and joy.
The talk is a part of "Creativity & Change," a day-long forum where national and international speakers explore the connections between creativity, design, education, innovation and sustainability to create global solutions.
