Taubman College Robert Goodspeed, assistant professor of urban and regional planning, will be a panelist at the upcoming discussion, “Are Consumers Ready for the Future of Mobility,” sponsored by the Society of Automotive Analysts.
Goodspeed’s research investigates how new information technologies can be used to improve the planning process and planning outcomes. He uses a mixed-method approach to innovative urban planning practice, incorporating GIS to develop novel methods as well as theoretical analysis of sociotechnical practices like crowdfunding and smart cities. On the panel, he will talk about the new mobility paradigm for urban transportation, multi-modal planning, and street design principles.
The discussion will seek to address several questions: What is the future of mobility, and how do we accelerate that future? How will the future of mobility impact our infrastructure and urban planning? How does adoption of electrification of heavy equipment/freight trucks compare with electrification of passenger vehicles? And, perhaps most importantly, are consumers ready for this future?
