Professor Shaun Jackson named a 2011 IDEA Awards Jurors for Education, Entrepreneurship, Design Expertise

Shaun Jackson, Professor at the School of Art & Design, Taubman College and Ross School of Business, was named as a juror for the 2011 International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) program, held by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA). Jackson is the only academic selected as a 2011 juror, noted as “educator, inventor, designer and entrepreneur who founded his first company, Eclipse Inc., while a student at the University of Michigan. As president and design director, he guided its growth from a small entrepreneurial venture to a multimillion-dollar corporation. Eclipse, because of Jackson’s commitment to design driven excellence, was selected as a case study for a National Endowment for the Arts research project entitled ‘The Competitive Edge: The Role of Design in American Business.'”

The Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) is the world’s oldest, largest, member-driven society for product design, industrial design, interaction design, human factors, ergonomics, design research, design management, universal design and related design fields. The IDEA program fosters business and public understanding about the impact of industrial design excellence on the quality of life and the economy. For the second year, The Henry Ford will house the IDEA award winners in its permanent collection to continue to tell the story of American innovation.
