Downtime on the Microgrid

Downtime on the Microgrid was a book in the science/technology/society genre. It was the first book from the disciplines of architecture and urbanism to appear in the Infrastructures series at the MIT Press. The manuscript was written mostly in 2017–18, after a series of some forty expert interviews, plus a short (one month) guest residency at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in 2016. It was launched into production in January 2019, but the MIT Press is slow enough that the release was in March 2020, the very month that the pandemic arrived. Even the crickets went on lockdown.
