Seeing

A freehand studio drawing course that concentrates on close reading of the built environment and the translation of three dimensional form to two dimensional line drawing. The course is based on the premise that drawing is a way of knowing. Though intended primarily for students considering a career in design, Seeing is open to students from any discipline wishing to improve their visual literacy.

Learning objectives:

  • Introduction to close reading of the built environment through hand drawing.
  • Development of line control and hand eye coordination.
  • Translation between three dimensional form and two dimensional line drawing. 
  • Introduction to perspectival drawing.

Software requirements:

  • Pencil and eraser
