ARCH 506 – Instructional Media: 238 Videos on Architecture

Description

How can video be used to explain architectural concepts to a wide audience? Participants in this course will explore the possibility by developing and understanding how video has been used to articulate architectural positions in the past, and how it could be used in the future. The course contains both workshop and seminar components organized around a collective research into the history of “architectural instructional media” (including educational films, promotional videos, and other artistic/descriptive efforts) as well as individual creative efforts in a series of weekly iterations articulating a range of architectural topics (historical, theoretical, and cultural) using a variety of techniques (live-action, found footage, and animation).
