URP 610 – Urban Environmental Systems: Project-Based Experiences for Students

Description

This course is a multi-disciplinary, project-based course that focuses on developing solutions to water-based challenges in cities. While we include information on both domestic and international cities, we highlight the opportunities and challenges in lower resource settings with a particular focus on Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Each class will be divided between the discussion of content material and group work related to on-going projects in Ethiopia and elsewhere.

This content will be divided into four sections to provide students with foundational knowledge in

  1. urban planning,
  2. environmental engineering,
  3. public health, and
  4. cultural humility.
