Mark Rosentraub

Professor of Urban and Regional Planning

Mark S. Rosentraub is a professor at the University of Michigan’s Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning. He also is the Bruce and Joan Bickner Endowed Professor of Sports Management and has been the director of the U-M’s Center for Sport and Policy since 2009. Prior to joining U-M, he was dean and professor at the Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University, where he also was the director and founder of The Ruth Ratner Miller Center for Greater Cleveland’s Future, which commissioned research designed to build the partnerships required to advance Greater Cleveland’s economic development and commitment to equal growth.

Rosentraub’s publications include Reversing Urban Decline: Why and How Sports, Entertainment, and Culture Turn Cities Into Major League Winners, (CRC Press/Taylor and Francis, 2014), and Sports Finance and Management: Real Estate, Entertainment, and the Remaking of the Business (CRC Press/Taylor and Francis, 2011, with Jason  A. Winfree). 

He earned his PhD from the University of Southern California.
