Tremblay receives national award for co-editing college admissions textbook

Taubman College’s Christopher Tremblay recently co-edited the sixth edition of the Fundamentals of College Admission Counseling and was honored by the book’s publisher, the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC).

Tremblay, executive director of enrollment management and student affairs, edited the book along with Beth Gilfillan, associate professor of counseling at Northeastern Illinois University. Together, Tremblay and Gilfillan were awarded the Margaret E. Addis Exceptional Service to NACAC Award for Service for their contributions to the textbook and their work to advance the association. They will accept the award at the 2024 NACAC Conference in Los Angeles in late September.

Fundamentals of College Admission Counseling is used throughout the United States and world by a variety of professionals to engage in best practices in college admission counseling.

“This important text is an extraordinary contribution to our profession,” said Angel Pérez, CEO of NACAC. “It sits at the intersection of research and practice; I know thousands of students will be impacted by the education counselors receive in this textbook. I am grateful to Christopher for his commitment and contributions, and for his extraordinary service to the profession.”

Founded in 1937, the NACAC is an organization of more than 28,000 professionals from around the world dedicated to serving students as they make choices about pursuing postsecondary education.

“It was professionally rewarding to give back to the profession that has done so much for me,” Tremblay said. “It was an honor to work with our authors and NACAC staff to take this publication to the next level. I’m grateful for NACAC’s recognition of my efforts and expertise.”

Tremblay boasts three decades of leadership in higher education. Previously he worked in admission and enrollment management roles at Western Michigan University, Gannon University, the University of Michigan-Dearborn, and the University of Wisconsin-Superior.
