Taubman College Turpin Lectures Tomorrow on the Anthropocene at Cranbrook Academy of Art
As the 2012 Visiting Critic for the second year graduate programs at Cranbrook Academy of Art, Taubman College part-time lecturer and University of Michigan Center for Southeast Asian Studies Research Fellow Dr. Etienne Turpin will begin his week-long visit to Cranbrook with a public lecture on his research on the aesthetics of the anthropocene. The lecture – Jimmie Durham in Lascaux, A Parable for Art in the Anthropocene – is co-sponored by the Cranbrook Academy of Art Critical Studies Program and the University of Detroit Mercy School of Architecture. The lecture also anticipates Dr. Turpin’s intensive graduate design workshop – Repositioning Art & Aesthetics – at Cranbrook in February, 2013, when a select group of students from all art and design media will join Dr. Turpin for a week long inquiry regarding design research in the anthropocene.
