This course teaches about US and global food systems through interdisciplinary, experiential and peer-based learning, focusing on how food systems are shaped by and impact: agriculture and the environment, nutrition and public health, and urban planning and policy change. In addition to applying systems thinking (meeting jointly with NUTR555, EAS528, ENVIRON462, and URP 427) students in the URP 527 section will focus on the unique perspectives urban and regional planners bring to understanding and addressing food systems problems during class discussions and the major group project.
