DEI 2.0 Launch: Moving Our Vision Forward

In 2016, the University of Michigan made Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) a critical institutional priority with the creation of the inaugural campus-wide DEI 1.0 plan. Each unit, including Taubman College, used this plan to frame the creation of its own unit-specific DEI plan crafted for our own unique community. These 5-year plans concluded in 2021, but during his inaugural address, President Santa J. Ono reaffirmed this priority by noting, “We are united around the same mission and purpose, the same commitment to inclusion and excellence, discovery and integrity.”

To promote these values, we are launching our second five-year strategic plan (DEI 2.0). Our new plan will continue to enhance diversity, equity and inclusion throughout the university and help create our desired campus climate where all experience a sense of belonging. Join us in celebrating the work that went into the creation of our DEI 2.0 Plan, sharing the key strategic elements of it, and brainstorming about ways we can incorporate DEI principles into our plans and practices.
