Jonathan Hill

Jonathan Hill is Professor of Architecture and Visual Theory at the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL, where he is Director of the MPhil/PhD by Architectural Design Programme. An architect and graduate of the Architectural Association, he has an architectural history MSc and an architectural design PhD from the Bartlett.

Research activity includes 3 authored books, 2 edited books, 1 refereed edited journal and 9 solo and practice exhibitions. Publications include The Illegal Architect (1998), Occupying Architecture (1998), Architecture-the Subject is Matter (2001), The Journal of Architecture: ‘Opposites Attract: Research by Design’ (2003), Actions of Architecture: Architects and Creative Users (2003) and Hunting the Shadow-Immaterial Architecture (2005). 1 authored book, 1 co-authored book and 1 co-edited book are in preparation. Venues for solo exhibitions include the Haus der Architektur, Graz, and Architektur-Galerie am Weissenhof, Stuttgart. Jonathan’s research has been translated into Catalan, Chinese, Czech, French, German, Korean, Spanish and Swedish.
