Re-Envisioning Waste – PeeCycling for Sustainable and Equitable Food Systems

Please join us on Wednesday, November 15th at 5:30pm for our Dow Distinguished Awards presentation on circular nutrient economies in Michigan. PhD students Will Brinkerhoff, Joe Lybik, and Lanika Sanders will present their interdisciplinary research project, co-advised by professors Jennifer Blesh, Lesli Hoey, and Nancy Love.
We will discuss novel technologies to recover nutrients from human waste, how urine-derived fertilizers influence plant and soil health, how county-scale nutrient balances in Michigan inform opportunities for nutrient recycling, and the regulatory opportunities and barriers to recycling nutrients from waste. Following the presentation, we will have light dinner and refreshments and hope that lively conversation will follow.
