Assistant Professor Steven Mankouche, Lecturer Matthew Schulte and Ph.D. student Benjamin Smith awarded grant for Project Reach

Assistant Professor Steven Mankouche, Lecturer Matthew Schulte and Ph.D. student Benjamin Smith, in collaboration with Charles Veneklase, were awarded $15,000 to work with Project Reach, a New York City-based anti-discrimination organization. The project involves helping them redevelop a Catskills historic cauliflower farm site. The grant is for collaborative projects between community organizations, UM faculty and Rackham graduate students. Work on the project will commence this summer and carry through 2012. The grant is ushered the UM’s Arts of Citizenship 2011 Faculty and Graduate Student Collaborations in Public Scholarship.
