Velikov to Present Research and Creative Work as Panelist at “Archi-Salon” Hosted by the Art Institute of Chicago

Assistant Professor Kathy Velikov is a panelist, along with Jeanne Gang and Neeraj Bhatia, at the Art Institute of Chicago’s “Archi-Salon”, a roundtable discussion held in conjunction with the current “Inside Studio Gang Architects” exhibition. The panel is moderated by Clare Lyster of UIC and includes participation of respondents from the Chicago architectural community.

The discussion is titled From Outside the Discipline described via the Art Institute website as follows:
“Outside research is finding new influence within the discipline of architecture. This salon explores the influence of inquiries into topics not typically associated with the field. Presentations and discussion with invited contributors and panelists will explore the different ways research, ranging from the study of logistical networks to the air we breathe to the infrastructure of resource extraction to a self-organizing village, is being deployed as a design tool and the resulting implications for architectural practice.”

The Arch-Salon roundtable discussion is open to the public and will take place February 2, 2013 from 2pm-4pm. For additional information on the event and details on how to attend, please see:
