Professor Murray Presents Keynote Lecture and Participates in “The Practice and Politics of Do-it-Yourself (DIY) Urbanism in African Cities” Workshop in Abuja, Nigeria

Professor Martin Murray was invited to participate in a workshop called “The Practice and Politics of Do-it-Yourself (DIY) Urbanism in African Cities,” held in Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria, on December 4 to 7, 2017. The workshop was sponsored by the joint efforts through Malmo University, the Nordic Africa Institute (NAI) in Uppsala, Sweden, and the Sultan Maccido Institute at the University of Abuja, along with the Embassies of Norway and Sweden. Besides presenting a formal paper and participating in a round-table discussion, Professor Murray delivered the Keynote Address entitled “The Practice and Politics of DIY Urbanism in Urban Africa” for the Workshop attended by the Honorable Inger Ultvedt, Swedish Ambassador, Nigeria, and the Honorable Jens-Petter Kjemprud, Norwegian Ambassador, Nigeria. The lecture was held on December 7th at the Norwegian Embassy and was followed by a reception at the Swedish Embassy.
