Vliet and Abrons to Present Papers at the National Conference on the Beginning Design Student at the University of Cincinnati
Lecturer in Architecture Kasey Vliet will present a paper entitled “Designbuilding Empathy: Small Scale Academic Designbuild.” The presentation focuses on the promise of emergent design workflow software integrated with designbuild pedagogy to build empathy for the construction process on behalf of future architects. This peer-reviewed paper was selected for presentation at the 34th Annual National Conference on the Beginning Design Student on March 1-3, 2018. Vliet will present on Friday, March 2 in the Design Build Session.
Assistant Professor Ellie Abrons will present her paper, “Practice Sessions: A Model for Intensive, Engaged Learning Experiences.” Abrons “presents [Taubman College] Practice Sessions as a model for supplementing traditional, semester-long, individual studio projects with intensive bursts of collaborative design that expose students to the problems of practice and broader educational contexts.” The presentation will be part of the Academy / Practice Session on Friday, March 2.
