Taubman College Invites Expressions of Interest for Architecture Chair Position

The Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Michigan invites expressions of interest for a faculty member to chair the Architecture Program for a three-year renewable term beginning July 1, 2024. The college is seeking a dynamic and effective colleague to lead the program; represent it to external constituencies; coordinate instruction; manage the program budget; partner with administrative staff in recruiting faculty and students; and launch new program initiatives in consultation with the faculty and dean.

Candidates must hold or qualify for a tenure or practice track appointment in the Architecture Program at the associate or full professor level. They must possess a record of distinction in teaching and in professional, scholarly, and/or creative achievement, as well as a commitment to strengthening the Architecture Program and its degrees. The ideal candidate will bring ambition and vision to put the Architecture Program at the forefront of our field via the college strategic plan and other initiatives; have strong interpersonal skills and an inclusive leadership style to harness the capacities of faculty, students, and staff; the ability to integrate curriculum and pedagogy with staffing, enrollment, and budget; and an agile and results-oriented approach to operationalize evolving degree, program, and college goals.
