Why did you choose Taubman College as the right program for you?
I heard from previous students that Taubman College teaches one how to think like a designer. The critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity taught here excited me. As a high school senior, I did not want to commit to a career in a specific field but rather wanted the freedom to explore my personal interests. Taubman is a great place to do so.

What is special or excites you about the Taubman community?
The Taubman community is made up of a diverse set of individuals from all over the world. Hearing the wide range of perspectives here has opened my eyes to not only different cultures but the design decisions that accompany them.

If applicable, tell us about studio culture – what is inspiring or innovative or unique?
Studio culture is all about sharing, fusing, and building off your peers’ ideas. When you are sitting next to 60+ unique and creative minds, it is beneficial to absorb as much as you can and begin thinking about how you can merge and make these ideas unique to your own projects.

Describe your experience with faculty and professional staff during your time at Taubman?
The faculty and professional staff at Taubman are reliable and experienced. Whenever I have a question regarding my degree progress, upcoming events, or future classes, the answer has always been a quick phone call or email away. My professors continue to surprise me with the level of expertise they have in their respective disciplines.

How has Taubman’s career and professional development support prepared you for a successful career in your chosen field?
I have received countless emails from the Taubman College Career team highlighting upcoming professional development events such as portfolio & resume workshops, career fairs, and Spring Break internships. It is important to keep an eye out for these and mark your calendar.

What benefits have you experienced being part of the University of Michigan?
The University of Michigan has a reputation unlike any other. A large part of that is the unique campus culture. I have benefitted greatly from meeting so many new people and I have grown a lot as a result.

What do you like most about being part of the Ann Arbor community?
Ann Arbor is a very unique place. Everyone here is invested in the University to some extent and seeks success. This community actively challenges the status quo and pushes one another to get involved.

What advice would you give prospective students as they consider Taubman College?
My advice to prospective students is to talk to current students of all programs. We have all had different experiences at the college and would be happy to share quick thoughts. Secondly, ponder on what you are passionate about or what you want to explore in the college environment. You will find Taubman has plenty of resources to assist you in doing so.

What are your plans after graduation?
I am currently looking for work in the Chicago area in a range of fields. I would like to work on a large collaborative design team pushing the boundaries of design and identity in multiple mediums.

Additional advice or thoughts you’d like to share with prospective students?
I urge others to continue to explore what interests them. By gaining exposure in many sectors, you start to draw similarities that will help you push your personal work to its full capacity. Different mediums have their own limitations, but combining your knowledge of multiple will give you an endless source of inspiration for your projects.
