Why did you choose Taubman College as the right program for you?
The curriculum at Taubman College allows me to explore different interdisciplinary areas of study during the first two years of pre-arch studios. This experience gave me more choices for my future career so that I can combine them with my architectural learning.

What is special or excites you about the Taubman community?
The Taubman community has a highly inclusive culture that encourages me to express myself as an international student. Here, I feel that I’m encouraged to try out my thoughts and make mistakes. The close bonds between alumni and current students are also helpful so that I can get advice from previous students and learn about how they make their career choices.

If applicable, tell us about studio culture – what is inspiring or innovative or unique?
Being in the studio environment, we can always chat with people from different studios and reflect back on our own work. I find inspiring ideas through talking and asking questions with other people about our projects. During more intensive studios, the support between each other in the studio gives me the motivation to carry through.

Describe your experience with faculty and professional staff during your time at Taubman?
The faculty and staff at Taubman are amazing people who not only provide us help in academics but also with a lively learning environment. Each professor has their own way of teaching and inspiring us, and they’re always willing to help when I have questions, not limited to ones relating to the course material.

How has Taubman’s career and professional development support prepared you for a successful career in your chosen field?
The career support I received from Taubman college is very helpful. From the resume review sessions and career fairs I participated in, I got professional feedback from faculties, as well as individual networking experience with people from architecture firms. This experience makes me feel more prepared for interviews and networking events in the future.

What benefits have you experienced being part of the University of Michigan?
There are a lot of interdisciplinary opportunities available for us, including clubs, student programs, and public events. I get to collaborate with people from different backgrounds and academic interests, which encourages me to explore diverse possibilities outside of the curriculum.

What do you like most about being part of the Ann Arbor community?
It’s easy to travel from one place to another in Ann Arbor, and there are a lot of scholar events, performances, and gallery shows that are open to students.

What advice would you give prospective students as they consider Taubman College?
One thing that helped me during my time here was to always be curious about other people’s ideas. There are always events happening, and sometimes just stopping by a lecture in the commons can be very inspiring. During the final weeks, checking out reviews from different programs in the building is also a great experience.

What are your plans after graduation?
I would probably further my knowledge in a professional workspace first. I hope to gain a diverse working experience before applying to further education in grad school.
