Why did you choose Taubman College as the right program for you?
One of the things that initially drew me to Taubman was the diverse number of opportunities. I knew I wanted to try new things, and having access to the fabrication lab as well as the extensive course catalog, allowed me to make my experience unique.

What is special or excites you about the Taubman community?
The faculty is constantly fine-tuning the curriculum to reflect student feedback and interests. For example, in the Master’s Program, we were given the opportunity to ballot for which studios we wanted based on what we hoped to focus on that semester. This Fall, we’ll have the opportunity to ballot for studios held abroad, which I am very excited about!

If applicable, tell us about studio culture – what is inspiring or innovative or unique?
I have found the studio culture here to be a supportive and uplifting community of creative, hard-working individuals. Everyone has a uniquely diverse background, which allows for an enriched work environment.

Describe your experience with faculty and professional staff during your time at Taubman?
The faculty and the GSI’s have been wonderful. They take the time to listen and give insightful advice. They genuinely care about the growth and success of the students and aim to create a positive learning experience through thoughtful feedback and constructive critiques.

How has Taubman’s career and professional development support prepared you for a successful career in your chosen field?
The career team has been a great resource, offering lots of opportunities and insights. I feel comfortable reaching out to them, knowing that they have my best interest at heart. I have also loved my time participating in the events they have organized, including the spring externship, alumni panels, and career workshops.

What benefits have you experienced being part of the University of Michigan?
The lecture series is a phenomenal resource. They provide insights into different areas where architects are expanding the practice. I had the opportunity to study abroad in Mexico City last Spring, and it was eye-opening to see how other countries are using design to combat environmental challenges.

What do you like most about being part of the Ann Arbor community?
Ann Arbor is a small city, but there is always something happening- be it concerts, performances, food, festivals, or hidden gems like a bar tucked away in a house. You could probably go to a different restaurant every weekend and not make it to all of them by the time you graduate. I’ve even seen robots delivering food. You never know what you will see when you venture downtown. I also love the abundant access to parks throughout the city and in the surrounding communities. There is always a new park to explore and a new way to see what beautiful nature Michigan has to offer.

What advice would you give prospective students as they consider Taubman College?
I’m committed to exploring as many opportunities as I can here at Taubman and being open to the myriad of directions in which my career could unfold. When I graduate, I hope to take the skills and knowledge that I have accumulated here and utilize them to help communities design projects and reach their potential.

What are your plans after graduation?
Undetermined, for now, I am trying to experience as many things here at Taubman and see in what direction that takes me.

Additional advice or thoughts you’d like to share with prospective students?
Seek out every opportunity you are interested in, and enjoy your time here because it flies by. Taubman is a friendly community, so don’t hesitate to reach out to faculty, fellows, or students whose work you are interested in!
