Lecture: Sarah Nelson Jackson & Jonathan Jackson, WSDIA | WeShouldDoItAll

January 14, 2013 at 6:00 pm

The name, WeShouldDoItAll (WSDIA), is simply a goal. Designers and all other professionals alike should not feel constrained to some singular expertise. To survive our own creative game, it is imperative to know that there is not one absolute solution to any given problem. To immerse oneself within different avenues of creativity, forces consideration of the otherwise unconsidered. It’s that method of working that’s exciting and motivating for the studio’s practice.

WeShouldDoItAll is a New York based multi-disciplinary design studio. Established in 2004, WSDIA designs, develops and mediates branding, interactive, environmental and spatial projects for a diverse range of clients in varied professions. WSDIA has been recognized nationally and internationally through various awards and competitions, including the prestigious Art Directors Club Young Guns 5 award, which appoints the top 50 designers or studios under 30 years of age. WSDIA has won awards from the Event Design Awards, Type Directors, Creative Review Magazine, and AIGA National.

WSDIA’s recent projects include a temporary 12,000 sq. ft. space designed for Nike Football in Beaverton, Oregon. Under the umbrella of Ralph Appelbaum & Associates, WSDIA is one of the lead exhibition design teams for the David Adjaye designed Smithsonian National Museum of African American History & Culture, set to open on the Washington D.C. Mall in 2015. Past clients include AIA NY Center for Architecture, The Institute for Urban Design, Art Directors Club of New York (ADC), Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation (GSAPP), University of Pennsylvania School of Design, Diesel, The New York Times Magazine, The Trust for Governors Island and ESPN.

Jonathan Jackson, partner of WSDIA, graduated from Kent State University with a degree in Architecture. He previously worked for architecture offices: Studio Archea in Florence, Italy, Archi-Tectonics//Winka Dubbeldam, Lindy Roy in New York, and served as a board member of AIGA/NY for 2 years.

Sarah Nelson Jackson, partner of WSDIA, graduated from Boston University with a BFA in Graphic Design and a minor in Art History. She previously worked for graphic design offices: Ingredient, AREA 17, and Helicopter in New York.

Our responsibilities are all one in the same – specialization is for insects.
