Unverzagt Discusses his Firm, Detroit, and Teaching in Recent AIA Interview

Christian Unverzagt is an Assistant Professor of Practice in Architecture at Taubman College, where his teaching focuses on visual communication and interdisciplinary design methodologies.

As it is pointed out in the interview, he likes to design tangible things like books, furniture, buildings, and interiors and he considers his firm M1/DTW a design studio rather than an architecture firm.

In the academic sense, Unverzagt says, “I’m not quite an academic, I’m not quite a practitioner—I’m caught somewhere in between those two. They definitely complement each other and keep me honest.”
