Abrahamson published in Italian Journal

Architecture doctoral student Michael Abrahamson has recently published an essay in issue 9 of the Italian journal San Rocco, which focuses on architectural Minimalism. Abrahamson’s essay, titled “Sculpture into Architecture,” concerns the Contemporary Arts Museum in Houston, Texas, designed by former Michigan faculty Gunnar Birkerts in the early 1970s. In the essay, he argues that the minimal form and material expression of CAMH were as much contextual as aesthetic, responding to the emerging oil-rich, auto-centric Houston metropolis with a kind of zero-degree architecture.
