Newell named AIA Seattle Honor Awards juror; lectures across country

Assistant Professor of Architecture Catie Newell was recently called to a juror position for the Seattle AIA Honor Awards for Washington Architecture, along with David Adjaye, of David Adjaye Associates, and David Lewis, of LTL Architects. Nominees are expected to embody the ideals of problem solving, environmental sensitivity, social transformation, and inspiration. The Seattle AIA Honor Awards will be held on November 4th.

In addition to her appointment, Catie Newell will be hosting a series of highly anticipated lectures. The first, “Substrate”, was held on Spetember 24th at the UC School of Architecture and Interior Design. The second, which marked the opening night of her exhibition, “After Curfew”, took place October 8th. Newell’s lecture at the University of Washington, “Setting”, will occur on November 4th. Finally, those at Iowa State University will have the opportunity to hear her discuss “Surface Tension” on Wednesday, November 19th. Each of these lectures are open to the public.
