Ahlquist Named Finalist in the SXSW Place by Design 2016 Awards

Sean Ahlquist is a finalist in the 2016 SXSW Eco Place by Design Awards for his project Social Sensory Architectures in the category of Speculative + Prototyping. The category looks at conceptual ideas to improve public space and the built environment. The Social Sensory Architectures project addresses underlying challenges for people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) through the design of a physically, visually and auditorily transformable environment. At the core of project is the combination of advanced CNC knitting, sensing technology and custom software to form a textile structure as a tactile, sensorially-responsive architecture.
