Associate Professor Kathy Velikov curated the Detroit section of a new show at the Kelsey Museum. The show, “Urban Biographies, Ancient and Modern”, focuses on three cities where U-M faculty and students conduct field research. The work of archaeologists, faculty and students from sites in Gabii in Italy, Olynthos in Greece and Notion in Turkey is presented alongside conclusions from modern urban renovation sites in Detroit. These architectural and archeological projects juxtapose and complement each other, offering insights into the best practices for rebuilding modern cities and studying the ruins of ancient ones. The show will be open at the Kelsey Museum until January 6, 2019.
