Christina Hansen
Dipl.-Ing. Christina Hansen is a lecturer at the University of Michigan’s Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning since 2013. Christina teaches graduate design studios in housing, institutions, regional environmental design, urban design, and integrated systems.
She is principal and partner of Detroit based VolumeOne Design Studio, an award-winning international practice focusing on architectural and urban design with projects in the United States, Europe and China. Since its founding in 2011, VolumeOne has been recognized nationally and internationally for its housing, educational, cultural, commercial, institutional, hospitality, and urban design projects in various scales.
In her role as designer and project manager she focuses on urban design strategies, integrated building design, contemporary mixed-use typologies, advanced construction methods and environmentally responsible approaches.
Prior to joining VolumeOne, Hansen gained her professional experience since 1998 in firms, such as B5 Architekten and Studio Daniel Libeskind in Berlin/Germany and Zago Architecture, Luckenbach-Ziegelman Architects, and Hamilton-Anderson Associates in Detroit/ United States.
Christina Hansen received her education at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern, the Kunsthochschule Berlin Weißensee and holds a master’s degree in architecture (Dipl.-Ing.) from the University of Hanover/ Germany.
