Associate Professor Larsen appointed to Great Lakes Cities $1.2 million project on climate change
Associate Professor Larissa Larsen and other U-M faculty will work together on a $1.2 million University of Michigan research project called the Great Lakes Adaption Assessment for Cities. With support from the Kresge Foundation, and the Graham Environmental Sustainability Institute, this project encourages collaboration among decision makers from Great Lakes Cities, which will result in a more unified response to their climate impact. The project’s focus is to achieve more effective urban climate adaption in the Great Lakes region for both Canada and the United States.
The faculty research teams and regional partners will focus their efforts on the gap in regionally focused adaption planning. The team will perform new research as well as use data from the Great Lakes Integrated Sciences and Assessments Center, a collaboration between the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Ohio State University, and the Michigan Sea Grant.
Grand Rapids is the first of five Great Lakes cities to confirm participation in the research project.
