Monica Ponce de Leon and Mary-Ann Ray to speak at symposium honoring Michael Graves
Dean Monica Ponce de Leon will be a featured panelist at Past as Prologue, a symposium honoring Michael Graves’ fifty years in the practice. Ponce de Leon will travel to Parsons The New School for Design on November 22nd for the event – organized by the Architectural League of New York – and take part in a panel alongside Peter Eisenman, Anthony Vidler, and David Mohney. The panel will discuss Graves’ influence on architectural education and pedagogy, generating what is sure to be a spirited debate.

Another faculty member from Taubman College, Professor of Practice Mary-Ann Ray, will participate in the second panel titled , “Drawing as Thinking.” Ray will join Steven Holl to discuss the importance and power of the hand-drawn image in the past and the present, as well as its relation to Graves’ definition of drawing as “a record of discovery.” Visit the ArchLeague.org website for more information.
