Clutter releases new book: Imaginary Apparatus: New York City and its Mediated Representation

Taubman College assistant professor McLain Clutter recently authored Imaginary Apparatus: New York City and its Mediated Representation, an exploration of the links between a city’s representation and the built environment. During the late 60s and early 70s, seminal policies of drawing on-location media production came into fruition in New York City, concurrent with the city’s Planning Commission documentation of the media’s depiction of the metropolis. Imaginary Apparatus reveals the overlap between those two efforts, showing how they fed each other.
