Kulper Drawings Published in New Collection

Drawings by Associate Professor of Architecture Perry Kulper are part of Single-Handedly: Contemporary Architects Draw by Hand (Princeton Architectural Press, 2019), a new collection of 220 drawings by 43 architects from around the world. The book focuses on the reasons why architects choose to draw by hand and includes reflections about the role of drawing in architecture while exploring its relations to imaginations of space, material, and construction.

The collection was assembled by New York-based architect Nalina Moses, part of the generation of architects who were trained to draw both by hand and with digital tools. She recently returned to hand-drawing because she finds it to be direct, pleasurable, and intuitive, and she wondered if other architects felt the same way.
