Dual Degrees
Dual degree programs lead to two different degree citations on the transcript and two separate diplomas. The programs allow a student to combine two graduate or graduate-professional programs, at least one of which is a Rackham master or doctoral program, and may include a non-Rackham professional degree program. To learn more about these programs, visit the Rackham Graduate School site.
Application Materials
Current UM Rackham graduate students pursuing any combination of master’s degrees must submit:

M.Arch + M.U.R.P.
Applicants interested in receiving a dual degree in architecture and urban and regional planning (M.Arch / M.U.R.P.) must complete two separate applications: one for architecture and one for urban and regional planning. An application fee is required for both programs. Each program will make an admission decision independently of the other. Only if both programs approve admission is the applicant considered a dual degree student.
To be eligible for admission, a student must have a B.S. degree from Taubman College or an equivalent degree earned at another institution. Graduate students enrolled in the 3 year M.Arch degree must complete all required 300 and 400 level course work before applying to the dual M.U.R.P./ M.Arch. Admission to both programs is normally limited to the fall term, but winter admission may be considered in special cases. The recommended procedure is to apply to each program for the same term. It is possible, however, to apply to either program once enrollment has taken place in the other.

The M.Arch / MS-DMT Dual Degree combines the two-year/60 credit hour (4 terms) M.Arch professional degree with the three semester /36 credit hour (3 terms) MS-DMT post-professional degree. The resulting 6-term/81 credit hour program of study, includes up to 16 double counted credit hours. Graduates with the dual degree are highly qualified professionals who pursue careers in academia, at a wide range of private and public agencies and in non-profit organizations.
Students must file separate applications to and be admitted by both programs. An application fee must accompany each application.
