Studio Reassembled

Launched in fall 2024, Studio Reassembled is a pilot environment that transforms the traditional one-student-per-desk studio setup into an open, intentionally collaborative space for sharing ideas and resources.

Developed by faculty, students, alumni, and makers, the 1,500-square-foot space on the third floor of Taubman College hosts nine studios at the undergraduate and graduate levels in architecture and urban design and features collective tables for shared exploration, a multimedia-ready “Cyclodrama” cylindrical amphitheater for lectures and critiques, and meeting booths for smaller gatherings. Integrated consulting services in environmental science, climate engineering, and visualization technology, along with other shared amenities, align with new pedagogical trends and provide resources otherwise unavailable to individual students.

“For me, what’s extremely exciting about this space is that it’s a living lab,” said Anya Sirota, Associate Dean for Academic Initiatives and Associate Professor of Architecture at Taubman College. “In essence, we’re testing aspects of space making, of aesthetics, of organizational principles and architecture and seeing how they engage and enable human activity.”
