This class is created by students for students. Radical planning challenges paternalistic, top-down urban planning by centering community-led decision-making to cultivate greater equity and justice. It directly confronts the systemic inequities embedded in the built environment, rejecting the status quo approaches that perpetuate exclusion and marginalization.
The student lead team has conducted in-person and online outreach engagements in Summer and Fall 2025 to prioritize the topics students are passionate and feel is missing in our education. This class is a speaker and workshop series that asks practitioners to share their strategies, approaches, tools, and tips that centers their wisdom, strategies, and lived experiences in working toward justice in the built environment.
