The Incomplete City: Design Workshop — Taken in parallel with UT102, this workshop teaches how to use the design process to nurture ideas and create new understandings of the city. Through activities such as observational research, mapping, sketching, debate, and collaborative drawing, a city for 100 people will be imagined, then collectively grown to support 10,000 people, all while focusing on human-centered scale – things “smaller than a building and bigger than a phone.” The Incomplete City is a multi-week-long game of the Sims or Cities: Skylines played on paper with 20 peers and, like a good urban environment, it is messy, chaotic, and sublime.
