Karl Saldana Ochoa’s research has focused on the integration of Artificial and Human Intelligence to achieve accurate and agile responses to natural disasters, utilizing a multimodal fusion approach for machine learning inference. She directs the AI in Architecture Graduate Certificate and leads the SHARE Lab, which develops projects at the intersection of artificial and human intelligence to enhance architectural creativity and analyze large-scale urban data. At UF, Karla focuses on Digital Twins – defined as intelligent environments – applied across scales from buildings to citywide systems.


The Binda Lecture Series honors Guido Binda (B.Arch.’31), who practiced architecture in Western Michigan for seven decades. Guido, with his wife Elizabeth, created this fund to provide for an exhibit program and annual lecture by visiting professionals.
