Come attend a Community Engagement Workshop that partners University of Michigan Architecture, Planning, LSA, and Social Work students in dialogue with philanthropic and civic leaders throughout Detroit. Developed by students in the 2026 Egalitarian Metropolis colloquium and directed by instructors Leigh House and Dr. Craig Wilkins, the Philanthropy and Civic Empowerment Along the Joe Louis Greenway Workshop is funded through the University Initiative for Democracy & Civic Empowerment and Life Changing Education Grants Program.

Located at the Detroit community organization, Equity Alliance, the Philanthropy and Civic Empowerment workshop seeks to enhance awareness surrounding the development of the Joe Louis Greenway and the impacts and reciprocal exchanges of contemporary and future philanthrocapitalist developments throughout Detroit.
