Linda McIntyre
Linda McIntyre, AICP, is an adjunct practice instructor in regional and urban planning. She also works as an environmental planner for an engineering and infrastructure firm and a freelance writer/editor/researcher.
Prior to her current private-sector role, she worked as a planner for the City of New York for eight years, including positions at the Department of City Planning, the Parks Department, and the Department of Citywide Administrative Services. While at the Department of City Planning, she created and implemented a popular training program for new hires, oversaw official communications from the City Planning Commission, and helped to manage regular and special public meetings for proposed land use actions.
She has written about a wide range of planning and land use topics for Planning, Landscape Architecture, and other magazines for working professionals and, working with a subject matter expert, a book about green roof design, installation, and maintenance. Her particular interests include clear communication, governance capacity and effectiveness, and evidence-based policymaking as well as coastal management and resilience; she served as a planning commissioner in a Lake Michigan shoreline community in 2020 and 2021. Linda holds a bachelor of arts degree in English from the University of Michigan, a juris doctor degree from Boston University, and a master of urban planning degree from City University of New York-Hunter College.
