Turpin to join SYNAPSE International Curators’ Network at Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin

The SYNAPSE jury consisting of Anselm Franke (Curator and designated Head of Visual Arts Department of Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin), Heike Catherina Mertens (Director of Arts and Culture, Ernst Schering Foundation, Berlin), Dr. Suely Rolnik (Psychoanalyst, art and cultural critic, curator and Professor at the Catholic University of São Paulo and at the Independent Studies Program, MACBA), Dr. Adele Tan (Writer and curator, Singapore) and Dr. Julia Voss (Art historian and journalist, F.A.Z., Frankfurt), has selected Taubman College part-time lecturer and University of Michigan Center for Southeast Asian Studies Research Fellow Dr. Etienne Turpin to join the workshop SYNAPSE – The International Curators’ Network – at Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin.

The HKW is working in collaboration with the Deutsches Museum and the Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society to bring together young curators for the development of the major exhibition The Anthropocene-Project. Dr. Turpin will present research from his forthcoming edited collection Architecture in the Anthropocene: Encounters Among Design, Deep Time, Science and Philosophy (Hong Kong: MAP Office/MAP Books Publishers, 2013).
