Dean Ponce de Leon and Assistant Professor Velikov jurying competition on the future of the Pontiac Silverdome

The Triple Investment Group, owners of the Silverdome, have announced the Silverdome International Design Competition, a new initiative that will shape the future of the City of Pontiac.  Dean Monica Ponce de Leon and Assistant Professor Kathy Velikov have been selected to serve on the jury and evaluate submissions.

The competition is calling all architects, planners, students, engineers, designers and artists from around the world to participate in submitting their ideas, design, renderings, and/or original concept for the redesign of the Silverdome and its surrounding property – perhaps best known as being home arena to the Detroit Lions up until 2002. 

Drew Sinclair, Principal, Architect and Urban Designer at regionalArchitects, rePlan and planningAlliance and Donald Schmitt, Principal, Diamond Schmitt Architects will join Dean Monica Ponce de Leon and Professor Velikov to round out the jury. 

The deadline to submit proposals is April 12, 2015 at 5pm EST.  A prize of $3,000 will be awarded to the first place winner, $1000 to the second and $500 for third place winner.
