Abrons speaks at IDEAS CITY Detroit
The urban initiative IDEAS CITY kicked off its 2016-17 series of programs with events in and about Detroit. Held on April 25-30, 2016, IDEAS CITY Detroit included an intensive weeklong studio laboratory workshop with 41 fellows, culminating in a daylong public conference at Jam Handy in Detroit, featuring internationally acclaimed speakers from a variety of creative fields. Assistant Professor of Architecture Ellie Abrons participated in a conference panel, along with Kunié Adeyemi, Bryan Boyer, and Walter Hood.
IDEAS CITY is a collaborative, civic, and creative platform that starts from the premise that art and culture are essential to the future vitality of cities. This international initiative provides a forum for designers, artists, technologists, and policymakers to exchange ideas, identify challenges, propose solutions, and engage the public’s participation. The initiative was cofounded at the New Museum, New York, by Lisa Phillips, Toby Devan Lewis Director and Karen Wong, Deputy Director.
