Newell Exhibits 2016 Art Prize Entry “345 Franklin”
Assistant Professor of Architecture Catie Newell exhibits 345 Franklin, a collaboration with artist Ian Strange and entry for the 2016 Art Prize. The installation inverts Gordon Matta-Clark’s Splitting (1974) by reducing a house to a single sliver. Where Matta-Clark left a void, Newell and Strange demolish a house down to a mass and exposed interior.
345 Franklin is on view at SiTE:LAB in Grand Rapids, MI until October 9th. For more information visit: https://www.artprize.org/63559.
